407 What is the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ?
This final video explores the Nativity. You can have a nativity ornament as your last ornament or you can put up your nativity scene in the house or in the yard. Or, if you already have your nativity scene set up, you can place your baby Jesus inside. Now, here is the story of the nativity!
According to the Gospel accounts of Matthew and Luke, the Nativity took place in Bethlehem, a small town in Judea, over 2,000 years ago.
The story begins with Mary, a young woman who was engaged to Joseph, a carpenter from Nazareth. Mary was visited by the angel Gabriel, who informed her that she would conceive a child by the Holy Spirit and give birth to a son, whom she was to name Jesus.
Joseph also received a visit from an angel in a dream, who assured him that Mary's pregnancy was part of God's plan and instructed him to take Mary as his wife.
As Joseph and Mary traveled to Bethlehem for the census, Mary went into labor. Unable to find lodging in a crowded town, they settled in a stable or a manger, where Mary gave birth to Jesus. She wrapped Him in swaddling clothes and laid Him in a manger, as there was no room for them in the inn.
Soon after Jesus' birth, shepherds tending their flocks nearby were visited by angels who announced the good news of Jesus' birth. The shepherds hurried to Bethlehem to see the newborn king and found Him lying in a manger.
Later, wise men from the East, known as the Magi or the Three Kings, saw a unique star in the sky and believed it to be a sign of the birth of a great king. Guided by this star, they traveled to Bethlehem and presented Jesus with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
The Nativity story represents God's love for humanity and His plan for salvation. It emphasizes the humility and simplicity surrounding Jesus' birth and reminds us that God's love and salvation are accessible to all.
The story of the Nativity can be found in the Gospels of Matthew (chapter 1-2) and Luke (chapter 2). It is celebrated by Christians around the world on Christmas Day, which is December 25th.
